ORIEL QUARTETT

After numerous gigs together in England and Germany, the Orierl Quartet was officially formed in Berlin in 2010. With Alice Dixon (cello), Josa Gerhard (viola) and the violinists Anna Eichholz and Sabine Besser, there are four versatile, experimental musicians: the ensemble is devoted to a wide spectrum that ranges from old music to contemporary modernism, to jazz and pop.

In doing so, it benefits from the many influences every individual member brings from their education and other artistic work. They studied at the music academies in Berlin and Leipzig, as well as the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music in London.Among others, they have played with the ensembles Kaleidoskop, Zafraan Ensemble and the European Union Chamber Orchestra.

Highlights of the past few years were concert programs with the sopranos Sarah Dacey (Juice Vocal Ensemble) and Sarah Behrendt, the pianist John Kameel Farah, Daniel Eichholz (drums), as well as the multiple collaboration with the video artist Tanja Schmidt. The quartet made studio recordings for Kim Janssen, as well as for the award-winning film "Der Grenzengang", and played with Jherek Bischoff and Amanda Palmer at the Columbia Club, Berlin.

The Oriel Quartet plays Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Debussy to Steve Reich, John Adams, Arvo Pärt , Terry Riley, Vivaldi, Byrd and Purcell, and much more.
